In the course of our journey we have expanded our community initiatives to slums and beyond where our children live.
It has been our vision and mission to help the wider underprivileged community and the tens of thousands of families that need our support.
Our care package distribution drive serves these families that live in the streets and slum dwellings. Nutrition, hygiene products, clothing and basic essentials are distributed on a weekly basis to these families who are in desperate need of these commodities to ensure the health and safety of the families.
The second wave of Covid in 2021 brought about tragedy like never seen before. The Delta variant brought with it the destruction and downfall of our healthcare systems leaving millions of affected people without oxygen and basic health care facilities. During this time, we worked with multiple organisations to be able to reach as many patients as possible, in some cases this was lifesaving work. Essential medical supplies such as oxygen cylinders, concentrators, masks, cannulas, flow meters and oximeters were regularly sent out to our medical partners enabling them to treat up to 44% more infected patients allowing them to restore their health.
Our team at Harmony House partnered with Responsenet (Delhi Food Bank) and visited the Sukhrali slums where we distributed 73 kits of the COVID 19 home prevention care kits containing a thermometer, oximeter, steamer, mask, paracetamol, sanitizer, disinfect cleaner, and sanitary pad. Kits were given door to door and families were explained to them how to use them. The purpose of this initiative was to raise awareness on how to prevent the spread of Covid 19 and respond to the virus responsibly should they be infected.
A 4 month long flea market was held from Sept – Dec 21
An in-house flea market was set up at our centers where we kept all the essential pre-loved items that were donated by our kind supporters like clothes, shoes, bags, utensils, etc. Our children, their families and the people from the community were given vouchers by the Harmony House team which allowed them to shop for the items they needed from the market. This market not only provided families with essential items but also allowed these parents the dignity of being able to give their children items that they desperately needed.
Our year long Tarpaulin distribution drive has helped many families who were victims of devastating slum fires where these families lost their homes and all of their limited belongings. Hundreds of families were left with nothing but the clothes they had on their backs. They were left with no access to food, clothes or clean drinking water. Aid packs were regularly sent out and the tarpaulin along with bamboo gave these families the ability to re build some form of weather proofed shelter which protected them from the harsh weather conditions and gave them the ability to build a new home.
